Week 1

So much has happened in the past few days! Holyyyyy cow. I honestly don't even know where to start. Well, I guess I'll start with Thursday. So Thursday was the day that my mom and I flew out of Indiana and then traveled to Rexburg! I'm going to miss my family so so so much. It was a very stressful day. We had to fly from Indiana to Denver, Denver to Salt Lake, then rent a car and make our way up to Rexburg which is about a four hour drive.

When we stopped in Salt Lake we met up with one of my favorite families on the face of this planet. I love them so much!

Journal entry: April 18th, 2013

"I'm 20 minutes away from Rexburg!! What the heck...this is just way too weird! Tomorrow I move into my apartment! Ahh this is so crazy."

Journal entry: April 19th, 2013

"Oh what a day... So, I got all moved into my apartment! It is SO cute. I'm obsessed. Haha. Oh, I met Elyse, Nahiomi, & Haley today! They seem super nice. :) I got my I Card and got a TB test, then got some stuff at the bookstore and all that good stuff. Then I went to Get Connected! It's kind of like a college age EFY for the new students on campus. Haha. There were 3 girls and 30 guys in my group. Haha holllly cow. And all Returned Missionaires. I talked to the other girls and figured out that me and a girl named Penny both live in the same apartment complex. She's super nice! I went to the bookstore with her, then we went to Walmart since she doesn't have a car. After that there was a social for Get Connected. I met some guys and at the end, one of them said, "So, do you have a phone?" Hahaha. Ohhh dear. And so it begins."

Annnnd those were the only two journal entries I made. Haha pathetic. I'm going to try my best to remember everything that happened on the other days.

On Saturday we had another session of Get Connected. This one focused on who we can become by being students at BYU Idaho. We watched an excerpt of a talk by Elder Bednar where he talked about how at BYU Idaho is a Disciple Preparation Center. I've only been here for a few days, but I truly feel like it is! There's something about this place that is just so special. It's honestly the coolest thing ever that you can feel the Spirit so strongly at school. Anyways, after that we had a barbeque. Fun times...then I saw my good friend Allison from Indiana! That was exciting! Then that night I hung out with all of the roommates that were there so far. We went to the Talent Show and it was a lot of fun! Then we all went to Walmart to get some last minute things for the apartment.

On Sunday I didn't really do much all morning because our ward meets at 1:00. Eventually we all walked to church. Our ward meets in a concert hall which is super weird. My ward is the 91st ward...which gives you an idea of how many student wards there are here. Haha. During Sunday school, the guy sitting in front of us turned around during the middle of Sunday School and started talking to my roommate. I thought he was asking her out on a date so I started cracking up and I thought, "this cannot be happening right now..." Haha. It turns out he was inviting our whole apartment over for dinner. So later that night we went over to this random guy's ghetto apartment to eat pasta. It was actually one of the funnest things ever. I feel like all of the girls in my apartment did some serious bonding during that hilarious, awkward experience. So many laughs! I seriously love them.

Then yesterday was my first day of classes! My mom picked me up early to take me to breakfast before she left to go back to Indiana. We went to McDonald's because it was the only thing open. Oh, also, it was snowing. Yeah. Then she dropped me off at my first class and I had to say goodbye to her. It was really hard. I love her so much!
So my first class was Book of Mormon. My teacher seems really cool! He asked if anyone in the class could play the piano...naturally I didn't raise my hand. Eventually after a few moments of awkward silence and the teacher threatening that he will find out who can (haha) I raised my hand and said I can play a few hymns. So now I'm the official piano player for my Book of Mormon class. Fantastic! It's so weird to me that there are married people in my classes. People that were contributing to the lesson kept saying, "my wife...." or "my husband...""when I got married...." etc. After that I went to go study for Book of Mormon and work on my online class. I kept getting distracted by the giggling baby a few feet away from me. #BYUIProbz. Also, when I was sitting there I overheard two guys talking...."I've been here for a year. My number one need is a girl." Classic.
After that, I didn't have another class until 2:00. Can I just say that college is fantastic? I just went home and chilled for a while since I already had my homework done. Then I left for my 2:00 class and I got completely lost. Embarassing. The Romney building at BYU Idaho is a joke. It's like the A hallway at HSE, but ten times worse. After wandering the entire building literally 5 times and asking 3 different people where my room was, I found it. It was tucked away downstairs in a tiny little corner. Thanks for that to whoever designed the Romney building. So this is my math class and my teacher is the coolest ever. First, class started off with a prayer, which I think is super cool. He had us fill out a little info sheet and at the bottom of the paper it said, "If you still have free time, show off your drawing skills on the back of this paper by drawing a monkey flying to the moon while trying to do his math homework." And that I did. Then he started off the lesson with a quote from President Eyring about how we are all unique. Again, can I just say that I'm LOVING this whole church school thing? I'm in love with this school and I'm so excited to learn here.

Flashback to fall 2011...

I had always planned on attending BYU Provo. I went to a CES fireside and I saw a video about BYU Idaho. I felt the Spirit so strong and I knew at that moment that that's where I would be going to school. I didn't know why, but I knew. I am so glad I am here! I feel so blessed. Please please please watch this video! I skipped to the best part for you :) It changed my life.

I hope I live long enough to someday meet some employer who employed one of you and says, "Where did that come from? I've never had such a person. And I'll smile and say,

"Well, come with me to Rexburg."
